Venditti will be visiting Malta this summer and performing live in concert on the 24th August 2012, at the MFCC Ta’Qali. He is expected to attract a numerous audience, in view of his considerable following in Malta and Gozo. More importantly, this concert shall also be ideal for tourism from Italy, since Venditti also commands a large, loyal following all across the Italian Peninsula.
At a press conference given by the singer at the Excelsior Hotel last Friday, we were treated to a glimpse of the singer’s unique style.
“It’s incredible that you can speak in any language when you’re in Malta and be understood,” he said. “It’s like the whole country is suspended in time, it’s a truly magical place. At a time like this, when the world is in such a bad state, it’s wonderful to be back here”.
Speaking about the concert, Venditti promised a fantastic evening spanning the course of his entire discography. He said that concert-goers could expect more of a rock performance than he has delivered at his recent appearances, but that they’ll also be treated to tastes of the piano and orchestra stylings that have each characterized different stages of his prolific careers.

Venditti has been performing since the early 1970s, when he released his first true solo album “L’orso Bruno”. It was the song Roma, his declaration of love to the city of his birth, that really launched his career, and he followed up that success with his 1975 album “Lilly”, which quickly climbed to number one on the charts. Venditti made a name for himself for his political and socially-conscious lyrics, his most famous songs including Sotto il Segno dei Pesci, Buona Domenica, and Grazie Roma, which was adopted as the anthem of AS Roma, the team the singer supports.
The concert is expected to be one of the main events of the summer, and will be supported by special guests, Winter Moods. Ivan Grech, lead singer for the local favourites, said that being given the chance to perform alongside Venditti was a dream come true for him and the band.
